Florida-friendly Landscaping Installed Along the Mangrove Walkway

If you’ve recently visited the western portion of the Mangrove Walkway, you may have noticed the beautiful new landscaping. In this video, Bill Waddill, The Bay’s Chief Implementation Officer, showcases the variety of native flowers, grasses, shrubs and trees that were just planted along the path. In the coming months, additional landscaping will be installed along the eastern portion of the Mangrove Walkway.

A full list of the Florida-friendly trees and plants included in the Mangrove Walkway’s landscaping design is shown below.

Trees:

  • Gumbo Limbo
  • Green Buttonwood
  • Silver Buttonwood
  • Royal Poinciana
  • Southern Live Oak
  • Mahogany
  • Cabbage Palm (Florida’s state tree)
  • Yellow Trumpet/Tabebuia
  • Pink Trumpet/Tabebuia

Shrubs/Groundcover/Grasses/Perennials:

  • Coreopsis (Florida’s state wildflower)
  • Salvia – Scarlet Sage
  • Salvia – Snow Nymph
  • Slender Goldenrod
  • Giant Leather Fern
  • Horizontal and regular Cocoplum
  • “Green Carpet” Natal Palm
  • African Iris
  • Pink Muhly Grass
  • Kangaroo Paw Fern
  • Sword Fern (native variety)
  • Smooth Cordgrass
  • Sand Cordgrass
  • Fakahatchee Grass
