Phase 1: June 1 Update
Road striping, the yellow and white lines that appear on the road, was completed on Van Wezel Way and Plaza de Santo Domingo. These lines dictate direction, parking or crosswalks.
Demolition of the sidewalk west of the bridge on the north side of the Mangrove Bayou is also complete.
Additionally, consistent with our City of Sarasota permits, exotic and non-exotic trees along the project fence and near the shoreline will begin to be removed and relocated.
As a reminder, the existing pedestrian path and bridge through the Mangrove Bayou were closed this week so construction on the new walkway can begin. Both will remain closed for approximately 90 days.
To help visitors navigate the site during construction – whether walking, running or biking – a temporary path and new sidewalks have been installed. A map of this new pathway can be seen below.
