Kick off your new year and new habits by attending this new, four-week interactive lecture series with two of Sarasota’s knowledgeable and engaging doctors who will help you understand the “why’s, what’s and how’s” to empower you to improve your longevity of life. Dr. Chippy Ajithan and Dr. Smriti Banthia, both cardiologists will inform, inspire and empower you to live longer through their insights and practical advice.
Each week will focus on one of the Four Pillars of Longevity:
- Jan 11: Pillar #1 | Nutrition: Understand metabolic health and learn how the power of nutrition can lead to both health and disease.
- Jan 18: Pillar #2 | Exercise: What is the role movement plays in healthspan and lifespan.
- Jan 25: Pillar #3 | Sleep: Why we sleep; understanding the mechanics of sleep and the effect on longevity, cognitive function, immunity, and mood.
- Feb 1: Pillar #4 | Stress Reduction: Finding equanimity within the hurricanes in our lives.

About Dr. Chippy Ajithan
Dr. Chippy Ajithan is a board-certified cardiologist practicing in Sarasota for over 20 years. From a young age, Chippy knew that she was going to be a doctor and chose to major in biochemistry – fascinated by the myriad chemical processes within the human body. The precision of cardiovascular medicine, research-based treatment protocols and immediate life-saving treatment attracted her to cardiology.
After 20 years in practice, Dr. Chippy’s focus on treating chronic disease has shifted towards lifestyle as the key to preventing, healing, and even reversing disease. She brought the Dean Ornish Lifestyle Program to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and developed a preventive wellness program called RENEW. She was named Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s 2019 Physician of the Year.
About Dr. Smriti Banthia
Dr. Smriti Banthia is a Cardiologist and a Cardiac Electrophysiologist board certified in Cardiovascular Disease (Cardiology), Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Internal Medicine who trained at MIT, Harvard, IU, and Northwestern.
She has shifted her traditional medical practice to focus on driving health changes and improving longevity with the power of nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management. Dr. Banthia is a frequent guest at The Bay and enjoys learning and encouraging others about ways that foster healthy lifestyles.
